I know we are in December, but I still haven't recapped October or November on here yet. My days blur together with a newborn and learning to juggle 3 kiddos now. But I love these recaps as much as my mom that reads these blogs ;) So I need to back track. Buckle up, it's a long one.

The highlight of October, obviously, was our sweet addition. But besides that we also had a big birthday for Isla! Somehow that sweet thing is 4 years old. I blinked and we arrived at 4. In our family, we have a tradition of spending the actual birthday doing what the birthday person wants to do. Michael took work off and we spent the day doing exactly what Isla wished for. We started with a pumpkin latte and a walk through the toy shop with some Grandma June money where she picked out a new game. Then we walked through a graveyard. Yes, you read that right, a graveyard. She had been asking to do that for weeks, so we finally made her dreams come true as she walked around and had me read every single tombstone. She even explained to Ewan that there were dead people in the ground. We finished the day with her favorite pizza. I can't make her up. She really is such a unique, special little girl. We love her so much.

For her birthday party, she wanted a ballerina theme because she loves ballet. For not wanting a girly-girl, I sure love watching her thrive in her world of pink and tutus. She requested a chocolate cake (her favorite), pink icecream, Blono Pizza Co, and deli sandwiches. She was showered with love from her family near and far. And I still have her thank you cards that she wrote sitting on our kitchen counter. Hopefully I send those before her 5th birthday...
Then we were able to get some newborn/family pictures. For a bunch of grumpy toddlers/husband, they aren't half bad.
I think this one is worth posting too. I laughed too hard when I saw this one. Ewan was not about getting his picture taken hahaha
Of course, we had Halloween too. The kids were very excited to go trick or treating. We thought we'd just do our street, but we ended up doing most of the neighborhood with some neighbors. Isla was an eagle because she wanted to be something with wings. Ewan was supposed to be a construction worker, but he refused to wear his costume. Our neighbors aren't too strict because he was still given candy even without a costume ;)
The in-betweens of October were filled with fall activities like baking and pumpkin carving. And lots and lots of newborn snuggles.
And then the clock struck 12 on November 1st and the Christmas season began in our home. We decorated for Christmas and ordered our annual deep dish Christmas-decorating pizza. The kids have loved having all the decor up. I'm of the mindset that if it brings me joy, why not put it up as early as possible. So, we did!

The rest of November was spent outside as much as possible (including a few snow days) or inside doing all things festive. We've enjoyed lots of baking, crafting, reading, and preparing for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
November also brought a house update! We *finally* finished our kitchen. It only took 9 months to get a backsplash in! We love it.
(here's the before)
We also had our second annual Thanksgiving festivities with the Readys. First, we visited the Reindeer ranch after learning all about reindeer in our schooling. The following day we went to the tea depot for our Ready ladies Christmas tea (next year Eleanor and baby girl Delgado will join too!). That night we decorated Nana's basement tree in our matching jammies. And of course we had to get a picture in the sleigh that Michael, Sarah, and his cousins took pictures in when they were little.
And as tradition goes, the kids got sick afterwards this year too. I thought we'd have to miss Thanksgiving, but fortunately fevers and chills subsided slightly for us to have Thanksgiving. Although, I'm pretty sure we spread our germs to my family afterwards.
Thanksgiving was with my family this year at my parent's Bloomington house. It was so good to all be together, which doesn't happen often. The kids enjoyed getting to know Uncle Ethan better and his girlfriend, Lauren. The following day we had leftover day at our house!
And this peanut turned one month old. She is so chill and content, mostly because she has to be as the third. We sure love her!
Now we have entered December and we are in the season of Advent where we anxiously await the special day of Christmas. A Christmas house tour and Advent post will be coming soon. Stay tuned!
