Our April, so far, has been such a bummer. Right before April started, Isla came down with a fever and had to miss our co-op's annual Easter egg hunt. Two days after that, the rest of us (except Michael) came down with some kind of awful sickness. I don't know if it was the flu, or covid, or some kind of intense cold; but, it was one of the worst sicknesses ever (although, don't I say that every time?). I felt like I was under water and couldn't breathe for days, the kids developed really nasty coughs, and everyone was so tired and achy that we stayed in bed for days (so many sleeping pictures!).
We missed co-op days, had to cancel Easter plans, missed out on my cousin coming to town, couldn't hang out with family, and had to stay home for weeks. And even now as I type this on April 22nd, some of us are STILL congested and stuffy. When will it end?!
Michael somehow remained unscathed and had to take care of us for weeks! He walked in on me several times, staring off in space, and had to check my pulse to make sure I was alive. He snapped a picture and had Chat GPT turn it into a "Victorian child dying from typhoid" because that's what he felt like was happening. Poor guy. But, I guess finding the humor in it is a coping mechanism of sorts.
So because of this awful sickness, there is not much to show for our month of April. We did a little school where we have continued learning about the different subgroups of animals and the ocean in preparation for our Florida trip. Isla is wrapping up a lot of her first grade curriculum and Ewan has finished his preschool/early kindergarten work. A lot of our school days have been outside on the porch, which is always nice. We even scooped some of our neighborhood pond water up to look at under the microscope!
