Christmas 2019

Well another Christmas has come and gone! I can't believe it's all over. We had a great season. The weekend before Christmas we headed up to Michigan to see my family. Isla had just gotten over hand-foot-mouth and I had started to get symptoms on the way up there (also, HFM is a TERRIBLE virus. I never want to do that again!). So we were a little under the weather and cut our trip short because of that. But we had a great time! We got to go to the Walworth Family party, which doesn't always happen every year because of the timing and distance. Santa showed up to the party and Isla hated him, but overall she did great! Then we had Christmas with my parents and grandma. It was a really nice time with a surprise visit from Uncle Ethan too!

Mimi and Isla sharing some buffalo plaid and kisses!

Isla met my Grandma Walworth for the first time. Grandma has Alzheimers and doesn't remember who we are, but she LOVED seeing a baby. We kept trying to get a picture, but she wouldn't look at the camera because she was staring at Isla. I wish Isla could have met the Grandma Walworth I knew.

We found out Isla LOVES breakfast casserole. The only way she'll eat eggs.

Isla liked opening presents and showing everyone what she got them.

Then we headed home and had a quiet Christmas Eve together. We drove all around looking for a place to eat and ended up at a dumpy little dive down the road (I think that might be our tradition from now on!). Then we drove around our neighborhood, looking at lights. Finally, we opened one present (a tradition from my childhood that I insisted we continue), Isla set out her cookies, we read "The Night Before Christmas", and went to bed. The next day, Santa had visited. It was SO FUN watching Isla open all her presents and enjoy Christmas. The magic of Christmas is kind of lost in adulthood, but I can see how it will quickly come back each year as Isla grows. She loved it! We finished with breakfast casserole and a casual day with the Readys. I made a bunch of unhealthy munchy food and it was great.

Santa had just left when I snapped this picture.

Christmas morning

The weekend after Christmas, we had a family wedding. Isla loved seeing all her family and socializing with every guest. The next morning, we had Ready Christmas. It was a fun day of lots and lots of food, present opening, and fun memories! Isla was really excited to get her Children's Museum pass from her Nana and Pop Pop.

We looked at baby pictures of Michael and couldn't figure out where Isla got her looks from until we saw Auntie Sarah's album :)

Isla decided that Christmas is fun, but it sure is exhausting! Until next year, Merry Christmas 2019 :)
