We had a great time in Union Pier, Michigan last week. We met my parents and it ended up being about halfway for both of us. Our rental house was beautiful! Isla had such a fun time playing on the beach all day. It was hard to convince her to go back upstairs (72 steps total back to the house) because she didn't want to leave the fun! The water was pretty cold, but that didn't stop Isla from walking straight out into the water with no regard for anything! We can't wait to go back again next year.
Michigan has a big chunk of my heart. I wish I could raise Isla on the beach, but this is a good compromise. She took right away to Mimi and Bupa even though she hasn't seen them in person since January. And she had such a fun time with them. I wish we all lived a little closer.
Isla slept SO well the whole week (except for getting up really early one day). This was new for us. Usually we avoid travel because she is the worst sleeper and we always take 10 steps backwards with her sleep. This trip, she slept through the night and napped really well (probably from all the sunshine!). It helped that Michael tinfoiled the windows so it was pitch black in her room haha During nap, we enjoyed the hot tub and the view!
It's kind of a tradition to have monkey bread whenever we stay somewhere on the water. I don't know why, but none of us complained. We ate so much food the whole week!
I'm not sure where these types of swimsuits were when I was growing up. I had some really awful sunburns as a child, even though I always wore a t-shirt over my swimsuit. Isla didn't get burned at all! Pop Pop and Nana always get her these little UV protection suits and I love it!
Poor Mimi kept getting roped into going out in the water with Isla. It was so cold that none of us wanted to, but Mimi was a good sport.
I got my 29th week picture in! Let me tell you, 72 steps up to the house was hard on this third trimester mama!
We kept telling Isla that we were going to see Mimi and Bupa. One day we were talking about the food we'd eat with them and she heard pizza. Well that's all she talked about for about 2 weeks. She kept saying she was going to eat "Bupa's pizza". So we finally got the pizza and she was so excited!
One of the prettiest rentals we've stayed in!
The only thing missing from the sunset was a glass of wine to enjoy. Maybe next summer I won't be pregnant or breastfeeding hourly :)
I'm so thankful for my parents who invited us along and gave us a fun vacation! We all had such a fun time.

ReplyDeleteI hope someone carried Isla at least part way up and down the 72 steps :) Loved the pictures. Looked like everyone had a great time. (Had some trouble posting a comment. Hopefully the second time is a charm.)
ReplyDeleteMichael carried her up. I almost needed him to carry me up a few times too haha
