Happy Spring!

Yesterday was the first day of spring and we all jumped for joy! Winter is cold and lonely, but when you throw in a pandemic, it's even worse. But we made it and spring has sprung. Today was so nice that Isla got over 4 hours of outside time. And it proved itself worthy when bedtime went down without a hitch (lately it's been tantrum city) and she fell asleep within 15 minutes (instead of her usual "chat with herself for an hour" ordeal). We have been working on making the backyard more enticing too. Our yard is tiny, so we figured we'd work on making the most out of a small space. We've added a play house, swing, mud kitchen, and art center (I'll share more when it's finished!).

We found out Ewan's favorite food is salmon. Otherwise, he doesn't like too much. He's on a little bit of a food strike and we aren't sure why.

Isla was so excited to *finally* go to a store (we haven't taken her anywhere in a year). But after we saw the way she reacted around people and how she told us we couldn't go to the zoo because there were sick people there, we decided she HAS to start going out. For the sake of her social health, we are trying to find safe ways to get her back into the world. We went shopping during the morning of a week day, so there weren't a ton of people, but still enough excitement for her. Great Grandma June had sent her some money for Valentine's Day and she was able to spend it. She walked through the whole store telling me she needed everything. Finally, she stopped in front of the unicorn, hugged it, and said "this is the one!".

Sometimes Isla tells us she needs to use the potty. One day, she sat down and filled the bowl, ran around, came back, and filled it again. We are slowly making progress.

They love the new swing!

We had one last (hopefully) ice/sleet/rain day, followed by warm snuggles under the blanket. Here's to hoping there is no more of that until next winter!

Always sneaking licks and blueberries :)

I got my haircut after Ewan continued to rip my hair out every time he nursed. Even when it was in a ponytail, he would find a way. It felt great to get out of the house and pamper myself a little bit.

I told you, always sneaking licks :)

Isla was really excited to help Daddy build her house.

And Daddy was really excited to stand in the cold while Isla played!

She's the sweetest big sister. I love watching their relationship unfold.

"Smile, Isla"
"THIS IS MY SMILE!!!"

Little man turned 7 months old. He is a happy baby if he's held all day, otherwise he cries within 8 seconds of being set down. He laughs at anything I say and thinks the world of his family, especially Isla. He still wakes up every 2 hours all night and I.AM.EXHAUSTED. But I know he'll sleep someday. He comes to bed with us around 4:00 every morning (otherwise he wakes sister up with his crying) and even though it means I'm pretty much up for the day at that point, I love those morning snuggles. He likes to burrow in right against my cheek and it's so sweet. He is working so hard on crawling, but can't quite figure out how to go forward. He just mastered rolling tummy to back (which is weird since that is usually learned before rolling the other way or sitting up), but still won't do it often. We've started incorporating a probiotic and oatmeal cream into his regimen to work on some bad eczema he has and hoping we find the triggers for that. He's a wiggly, moving, silly, clingy, happy baby and I love him so much.
