July 2021

Welcome to the most overdue blog post yet. I'll blame our very busy schedule, my complete exhaustion as a mom, and my lack of motivation for the lack of blogging. Truthfully, I feel like I barely have time to shower these days, let alone go through pictures and write a blog post. BUT the complaints have been heard, so here I am :) (Also, I enjoy documenting our life and looking back too!).

We have had a VERY busy summer. We are usually doing something every day. Sunday is church and family time, Monday is my small group Bible study with other mamas and their kids, Tuesday is theatre in the park with friends followed by dance class in the evening, Wednesday is my favorite mom's group at a different park each week, Thursday was music class, and Fridays have been reserved for home days or adventures usually at the nature preserve (or necessary errands like the grocery store or doctor's office), and finally Saturday rolls around and Michael goes on an early bike ride so my dreams of sleeping in are shot. Then we do something together like a day at Nana and Pop Pop's pool or the Farmer's Market or shopping of some sort. I love all the socializing and outside time we have been able to get, but man it is exhausting. Dance and music classes are now over and I'm hoping for a slower paced August to finish out our summer.

We recently got back from a fun trip to a beach house on Lake Michigan with my parents. It was fun and I always love going back to Michigan. It's a special place in my heart. I will do a separate post in the near future with pictures from that trip because I have far too many to add here on top of my already-really-behind pictures from July :) Here is a sneak peak though:

The Ready side had a few days together while Aunt Joy and Uncle Ray were in town. We were able to catch up and have a fun time at the pool celebrating Father's Day and Pop Pop's birthday.

We have spent A LOT of time playing in the heavy amounts of rain (and I don't mean in our flooded basement... although that happened too) and looking at the bugs and bunnies that came with said rain.

We completed Isla's first music class with Miss Laura and dance class at a local studio. Isla stuck it out and we finished, but I can't say we'll be jumping back on the band wagon for activities like that. I'll leave that up to Isla.

We spent the fourth of July together as a family and Isla tried her very first icecream. I think she liked it. She also got to experience her first sparklers and poppers!

Besides our busy schedule, we've had lots and lots and lots of free play. For Isla that means climbing, pretending, crafting/painting, reading, and hanging out with Ewan. For Ewan it means getting into everything and following his big sister around.

Ewan turned 11 months and I can't believe we are only one month away from a year old. He is so happy and smiley. I wish everyone could meet him because he instantly makes you happy. He loves food, but not vegetables. He loves Isla, but gets himself into sticky situations around her (pulling hair, taking toys). He loves naps and bedtime, but wakes up every 1-3 hours all night long. He loves crawling as fast as he can, but has no interest in trying out walking. He loves smiling, but will make you smile even bigger than him :)
