I don't normally like February, but this one has been a good one! We started out with a trip to Great Wolf Lodge. I get jealous of my friends that travel all over the world with their kids, when it seems like we can't even last an hour in the car without meltdowns. But these little mini trips, an overnight here or there, are perfect for our family. Everyone had fun, including the parents! And somehow, none of us got sick! That's a win in my book.
February has been weirdly warm. One day we spent SEVEN hours outside in the 60 degree weather. Besides our trip, we have just had a lot of low-key days that have been good for all of us. They have been full of lots of baking, playing, reading, and snuggling.
(Here's our new member of the family, Bill the horse. My creative father-in-law made this for his horse-loving granddaughter! We're all very impressed).
We missed co-op at the county museum since we were at Great Wolf Lodge, but we did make it to the other events this month. Valentine's Day yoga was so fun! One of the mamas in our group is a yoga instructor in her spare time and was able to lead us in some yoga with a craft and snack to follow.
The next week's co-op was at a small town supermarket. We got to tour the store and take a peek behind the scenes of how a store operates. Afterwards, the kids were able to enjoy fresh made donuts and juice.
To end the month, we visited the maple grove near us where we witnessed them tap one of their 3,000 maple trees. We were able to see how they collect the sugar water and boil it down to maple syrup. And of course, we sampled and purchased the liquid gold. This was a repeat event of last year, but the difference this year was it was 65 degrees. So afterwards, we got special permission to play at the nature center that has been shut down for the winter. It is our group's favorite spot and we were glad to have the place to ourselves. We left a muddy, wet, happy mess :)
And now we are in March somehow. Spring is right around the corner!
