Last Week of Fall Fun

We have had a busy last week! Let me tell you all about it.

We recently rearranged our basement to make room for Isla's "yes space". What is a "yes space", you ask? It's just an area that completely belongs to Isla. Do you know how many times toddlers are told "no" in a day? A lot. No wonder it becomes their favorite word in the terrible twos (or terrific twos as I think we will call them 😊). I wanted to create a space for her that she doesn't have to be told the word "no". She can touch anything, play with anything, climb on anything, and it's all a big YES. That way the "no's" that she inevitably encounters are reserved for more serious problems. We are still working on arranging and decorating, but so far she LOVES her new space.

 She loves her nugget couch

Most days we spend a majority of our time reading the same book 1,356 times. For real, this girl loves books! I'm not complaining.

On this particular morning, she spent her time hitting everything with a drumstick haha

Pop Pop made Isla her very own sensory table (if you're unsure of what a sensory table is or what sensory play is, stay tuned. I have a blog post coming soon!). We've been having all sorts of fun with it!

We carved pumpkins and played in the guts too in our sensory bin.

Monitoring dad's carving skills.

We needed a bath after playing with pumpkin guts!

yummy!

We spent some time outside this week. We are trying to soak up the last of the good weather as much as we can!

We also had the opportunity to say goodbye to our baby we lost this summer. The hospital offers a graveside burial a few times a year for families that have lost a baby. It was a special way for us to remember our baby and say goodbye to this awful and traumatic experience. On the way to the service, Isla kept us entertained by putting her vest over her head and laughing. She is our constant reminder of hope and God's goodness.

We took a little trip to the library one day because we needed to get out of the house. The combination of no sleep, new teeth, and a killer headache for mama meant we needed to get OUT OF THE HOUSE!

She sure is a happy, sweet little girl and we love her!
